Salzburg, A Lovely Place In Austria
This is a city full of joy and beauty,
and was ALWAYS the big pride of
Austria. It is hundreds of years old
and you can feel it everywhere.
There are still many buildings left
from the long gone past, which
are preserved and get renovated
time after time. Wolfgang Amadeus
Mozart lived and composed all his
life in this city and there are places
and streets, still remembering him
in their original state.
Salzburg is featuring the wonderful
Mirabelle Park, where visitors from
everywhere are spending their time
for hours. The big old castle, built
on a huge mountain rock, gave Salzburg its name. This entire area is full of immense
salt reserves, deep inside the mountains. This made it then hundreds of years ago
necessary, to build this strong castle for its defense.
The Austrians are very friendly and quiet people, they like to drink their coffees with
whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles, eating some delicious cakes and cookies.
Whipped cream with it, is a big favorite too. The many attractive and elegant cafeterias
in their preserved buildings, speak for themselves. Austrians like to socialize and
read in their daily news papers, as long they sit alone at a table. Asking for restau-
rants, there are quite a lot ! But the next big
attractions are the Theatres and Operas,
playing during the seasons many different
types of performances. You can also listen
to original Mozart Orchestras. But in Decem-
ber, short before Christmas, are wonderful
miraculous life staging for children shown
in the Children's Country Theatre, scenes
of beautiful lively fairytales in exceptional
original costumes. One of the biggest sen-
sations in Salzburg is a square, used as an
open-air theatre, for playing “Jedermann”
(english, “Everyone”). A gambling, egoistic
king, sitting with all his people celebrating
on a long table, when he gets his visit from
from the death. Meanwhile drinking wine
and celebrating hard, you can hear this
voice from the back calling ...”everyone”...
It is something very special, to
see these performances in life.
Also to mention is, that behind the city with a 30
minutes trip in a car or bus, you come to 3 beauti-
ful lakes, where you will find yourself in even more
gorgeous and exciting nature, meeting again with
other very friendly Austrians over there.
In the neighborhood over the close border you
will find 2 German cities, not very big, but very
much known. There is Bad Reichenhall, what is
a worldwide known healing location for asthma.
Already the clean and fresh mountain air helps
healing any major breathing problem. But there
is a very special arranged beautiful park, where
the fresh air is even creating more health and
all the sick vacationers can go there daily for a
certain time, breathing something really good.
It has to do with salty water, evaporating over
certain woods into the air. From Bad Reichen-
hall comes most of the manufactured salt for
the entire Germany.
Berchtesgaden is another famous city up in the
mountains, where the International Winter Olympic
Games 1933 took place. Skiing & other winter
sports become here a big attraction. Last is to say, from Salzburg to Munich in Germany,
it will take a 45 minutes drive, if you do not drive faster than 100 miles an hour. From
there you can enjoy most of the real ancient German historical places and attractions,
fully in depth with doing some daily excursions from there.
