Barcelona - City Between Sea And Mountains
Barcelona is a very old Spanish city,
located a on a little hill with a forest,
nestled between sea and mountains.
It has one of the busiest Mediterra-
nean ports. But you can also find
outstanding beaches, what makes
Barcelona to a number One rated
vacation destination for Spain.
Untainted superb Beaches are
in La Costa de Brava.
Because Barcelona is a world wide
travel spot reaching a size of about
1.6 million inhabitants, there are
many guided tours available, where
you can easily get to one of them
and let you show the antiquity and
the museums, and where you can
find good shopping areas and visit
first class restaurants. These tours
go even to outside places, where
you can enjoy the entire area from
a different view. There are lots of
Parks, and the trees growing in
there are mainly Oak and Pine.
In summer 1992 Barcelona was chosen featuring the Olympic Games. And so the
city advanced a lot from all that traffic, because it did result in even more vacationers
over the following past years again. It is always the same major challenge for a city
delivering the Olympic Games. Because this is the time, where one invests money
and can upgrade buildings and facilities, and
make it all better and even more attractive.
At the time the Olympic Games 1992 started, it
was the perfect environment for all its visitors
and these upgrades are lasting for all the next
years to come. Since the massive cleanup
operation on the Beaches and nearby Olympic
marina and village, undertaken for the 1992
Olympic Games, this area has become a magnet
for the citizen of Barcelona and visitors/vaca-
tioners alike. A lot of effort goes into maintaining
the cleanliness of both, sand and sea, which is
getting tested daily. All Beaches have disabled
access, lifeguards for the season, sun beds and
showers.
Closest to the Olympic marina, and therefore
always crowded and with wide swathe of rough
golden sand, is great for foot goers. There you can
find three spotless beach bars, two immensely po-
pular restaurants ("Mango" and "Chiringuito de
Moncho") on the promenade behind and count-
less bars and restaurants off the Port Olimic, just
a short stroll away. Because of the old age of Bar-
celona, you can find many historical sensations
and very interesting museums, monumental bui-
dings and little castles alike. It also shows a spe-
cific style of architecture, where the shaped walls
of buildings and the colorful paintings, transmit an
atmosphere between beauty and curiosity. You
will find a big walking street, where endless shop
rows are featuring all types of merchandises, you
can buy. A big favorite to sell on the streets are
flowers, because the colors fit so perfectly into
the overall picture of Barcelona. This all together
creates a certain very much liked Spanish
Atmosphere, and visitors are coming back
usually one day for more.
